Timmy's Tidbits: Say...Would You Like To Be President of insideSTL.com?
By Tim McKernan Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Just Casting My Line...

I'm just going to lay it out there on the line. Do with it what you want. Some of you will just read for curiosity. Some of you may read this and see what I'm writing as some form of a calling to work for something you already like and believe in...and get you out of whatever it is that you don't like or don't believe in.

Beats the hell out of me.

But, I know that I'd rather at least start this search on the site...meaning that the first few thousand people to read it will be regulars of insideSTL.com.

So, here's the deal:

This company is now 50 months old.

It's a regular part of my life. Everyday. And, it has been like that ever since the day I bought the domain in July 2005.

I've said this hundreds of times---no exaggeration---that I firmly believe that when it comes to doing the radio show and playing poker, I can hold my own. But, when it comes to running this company, there are thousands of people who could do a better job.

Truth be told...I went to Missouri Journalism School to do sports broadcasting...and I don't know the first thing about running a business.

Furthermore, I don't really want to run a business. I've just stumbled into one.

Now, I realize that it's important for me to continue to write, promote, and contribute creative aspects to the site, and I will obviously do that...but as far as running the business, I'm looking for someone to take it over if, and only if, I find someone who I feel comfortable in hiring to take on this responsibility.

I believe this site...and this concept...can be expanded to other markets and that the formula can and will continue to work. I'd like to expand. I'm ready to expand. But, once again, I firmly believe there is someone out there who would be much better suited to lead the expansion than I am.

I have a variety of ideas and concepts to add to insideSTL.com...but there needs to be a business application to these ideas and concepts...not just doing them because 'they'd be cool" and get some traffic. They have to be monetized.

And, that's what this is all about.

This fucking thing gets 200,000 pageviews per day.

Young St. Louisans come here everyday to kill time at work, read a different perspective on the area teams, make fun of people in the Nightlife section, listen to the radio show, and/or gawk at the Girls Next Door.

It's moronic...but it works.

And, I want to add to it.

But, I need someone who "gets" the site, someone who is driven to be successful, someone who is sharp, and someone who wants to be handed the keys to the car.

This job may or may not actually exist. In other words, I may or may not hire someone. Essentially, that will be determined by whether or not I find someone who I think is the right fit. If I find that person, then that person will be offered what I consider to be a substantial salary.

There are no qualifications whatsoever. How could I possibly require a college degree when I don't have one myself.

If you're interested in giving it a shot, send me a resume and a letter of some form explaining why you think you'd be the right person to continue to grow insideSTL.com in St. Louis and lead the way for an expansion into other markets. Email it all over to me at tmckernan@insidestl.com.

Heading Out To Las Vegas

I won't be on the air for The ITD Morning After until next Wednesday as I'm taking a vacation and going to Las Vegas.

We're going to go to the U2 concert Friday night at UNLV's stadium...and I'm sure there will be a poker tournament or two played in.

I'll have the traditional postcards from Las Vegas posted on the site detailing creepy behavior and other crap.

The insideSTL.com Hottest Woman In The World Tournament

We have moved on to the Sweet 16.

Top seed Marisa Miller continues to look strong as she dominated Ali Larter to advance. We've got a hell of a Sweet 16 match-up with Megan Fox taking on Jessica Biel. And, then there are some Cinderellas in 13 seeds Keeley Hazell and Stacy Kiebler. And, we'll have a Victoria's Secret showdown with Giselle going up against Adrianna Lima, who was able to advance after beating Mila Kunis by just two votes.

So, not only is this contest classy...it's also thrilling.

I'm still pissed most of my submissions were eliminated in the first round. But, you can make sure your favorites advance by CLICKING HERE.
