Welcome to Dad Life STL!

Many of us who have grown up with Inside STL have probably gone from bars, beers, and boobs...ok maybe some of us are still like this...and made the transition into the “Dad” phase of life. The more I talk to guys who are Dads, the more I realize how much we have in common. I also noticed that Dads in St. Louis are little under the radar so to speak.

There are a ton of resources for moms, obviously a lot for kids, but what about the Dads? Where is the open space for dads to find out information? To hear and read about what’s going on in St. Louis and how it pertains to us? Well...here we are! We cover sports, have interviews with other well known Dads in St. Louis, relationship/parenting/financial advice,   leadership/self improvement tips, technology reviews, local event alerts, food and beer talks, and all the other randomness that comes along with being a Dad.

This is a place to ask questions, vent, get advice, and connect with other dads in and around St. Louis. I’ll be the first to say that being a dad is not easy! However, all dads go through similar experiences, like, “What do I do when my kid starts: hitting, bitting, lying, dating, driving, asking where babies come from, etc.”

So to kick off my first post here, I want introduce to you the Dad Tournament.

 The Dad Tournament

I have created a bracket of 32 Dads from TV sitcoms dating back to the mid 70s. The greats like Bill Cosby, Danny Tanner, Ray Barone, and even Tony Soprano. They are ranked and ready for your vote to see who will be our favorite TV Dad.

You can go here to view and download the bracket: http://goo.gl/n8BvT

Let's kick it off with a match of brains vs. brauns.

Danny Tanner

1. Danny Tanner vs. 16. Hulk Hogan.

My vote: Danny Tanner. He was the American Dad. We all grew up with him and let’s face it, we watched Full House because of the girls. Danny worked hard to be the “Dad of all Dads”. He raised three girls, with the help of mullet haired uncles, we watched him go through the highs and lows of not having a wife to help raise kids, dealing with honesty, dating, school problems, and...yes...Kimmy Gibbler. This is why Danny is ranked number 1. And should go to the next round. What do you think?

Just became a dad 4 months ago; looking forward to the column. You should also do a list on scariest dads. It would be a tie between James Evans from Good Times and the dad on the Wonder Years.
