Announcing The Edmonds And McKernan Show On CBS Sports 920 From 12 to 2 p.m.
We’re quite pleased to announce that Jim Edmonds is joining the team at CBS Sports 920 and insideSTL.com. Starting Monday April 7th, the day of the Home Opener, Edmonds and I will be hosting the 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. slot Monday through Friday on CBS Sports 920.
When the Cardinals were making their run last October, Edmonds and I did an hour from 5 p.m to 6 p.m. on CBS Sports 920 and insideSTL.com. We enjoyed doing the show. Listeners listened. Advertisers advertised. And people showed up to meet Jim, although my Dad told me they were there to see me.
So, with that experience, we thought about doing a show on a regular basis. And within the last couple of weeks, we decided to do it…and launch it on the day of the Home Opener.
Naturally, the show will be plenty of baseball discussion…but it won’t be solely baseball. Edmonds is a huge Blues’ fan, and so we’re not going to be breaking down a Tuesday night game against the Brewers like it’s Game Six of the NLCS when the Blues are in the middle of a playoff run.
I am looking forward to having some big name baseball guests on the show…because they’ll come on with Jim’s involvement. They avoid our nitwit show in the morning for one reason or another. It’s likely because it’s a nitwit show…but the early morning hours don’t help either.
Doing a show with the soon-to-be Cardinal Hall of Famer will allow us to have some sports figures on the show who we wouldn’t normally be able to get. And, as we heard in October when, for example, Tony La Russa was on the show, baseball people talk to other baseball people with a hell of a lot more respect than say, La Russa talking to someone who hit .198 for the 1992 St. Louis U. High B-Team.
I will continue to fill the air with nonsense from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on The Ryan Kelley Morning After, and Charlie Marlow and Rene Knott of Middle Relief will continue to appear on the station throughout the day filling in on our show and Frank Cusumano’s show. This is the time of year when Jimmy “The Cat” Hayes misses a good part of the schedule because of Fox Sports Midwest travels, so you’ll still be hearing Charlie and Rene quite a bit.
We welcome Jim Edmonds to the lineup at CBS Sports 920 and insideSTL.com, and we look forward to the first Edmonds And McKernan Show live from Llywelyn’s in Soulard on Monday April 7th from 12 to 2 p.m. leading into the Home Opener.
