Friendly’s Presents Week 14 of The Football Picks of The Week

Order restored.

Producer Joe dicked around and went 1-5 last weekend. Meanwhile, I pwnd some holes and went 4-2, and with that, I now have a two game lead.

Woot to the fucking woot.

Last week we had our first push of the season, so the for the purpose of the standings and the Friendly’s gift certificate, we only had six games to pick from as opposed to the seventh with the Falcons-Buccaneers’ push.

We had three people with records of 5-1, but it was “mdean23” who won with the total points in the Rams-Cardinals’ game. Congratulations “mdean23.” You win a $25 gift certificate to Friendly’s for your fine weekend.

Tim: 45-43 (9-4 Locks of The Week)/Last Week: 4-2 (1-0 Lock of The Week)

Producer Joe: 43-45 (7-6 Locks of The Week)/Last Week: 1-5 (0-1 Lock of The Week)

Denny: 42-46 (9-4 Locks of The Week)/Last Week: 4-2 (1-0 Lock of The Week)

While it’s quite wonderful to be back where I belong, I’m disappointed in myself that I didn’t go 5-1. We made our picks Tuesday to get them up in time for Wednesday with the shortened week. So, when we all picked Missouri (+21.5) against Texas A & M, we thought the Tigers would have James Franklin. Once Friday rolled around, it was clear he wasn’t playing. So, I “loaded up” on Texas A & M Saturday night, but here on the site, I’ve got Missouri…like a fucking idiot.

Either way, it always feels good to pwn a hole real nicelike, and I intend to pwn more this weekend, and at the very least give you a Lock of The Week that will get me to a pretty damn impressive 71% record in Locks of The Week against the spread.

Remember, you can partake by making your picks in the comments section below. Pick the six games we pick. Select your own Lock of The Week using the most recent spreads on www.scoresandodds.com. And, finally, give a point total for the Rams and 49ers as a tiebreaker. Whoever does the best wins a $25 gift certificate to Friendly’s.

Some big games both in college and the NFL this weekend.

Alabama (-7) vs. Georgia (in Atlanta)

Producer Joe: I don't really deserve to make any projections this week because I was awful last week and now sit under .500 for the season.  Sweet action.  I honestly don't have a passionate pick here.  I think Georgia is going to cover the number but I don't think they are going to win the game outright.  I could also fathom a scenario where Alabama comes out and blows the Dawgs out of the Dome.  It's been a long time since UGA played well under Richt in a must-win game.  With that in mind I am going to roll with the Tide.
Pick: Alabama (-7)

Denny: Alabama (-7)

Tim: This is one where I’m going to hope to be wrong. I want to see Notre Dame against Alabama. As Yahoo! Sports’ Pat Forde said on TheITDRoll.com Morning After, it would be the most-anticipated BCS Championship Game since Texas-USC. And, Alabama may wind up doing it, but I’m going to take my chances with Georgia and the chance Georgia may lose but cover. There’s Alabama Dogma out there. I’m just not sure that the Bulldogs are the ones to prove it. Hopefully that happens in Miami on January 7th.
Pick: Georgia (+7)

Florida State (-14) at Georgia Tech

Producer Joe:
Ugh, who cares.  Both lost to SEC school last week and GT is going to be under .500 when this one is done.  Winner gets to play in a BCS bowl that no one will care about.  If FSU wants to keep the score rolling they can hang half a hundred here.
Pick: Florida State (-14)

Denny: Florida State (-14)

Pick: Florida State (-14)

Nebraska (-3) vs. Wisconsin (in Indianapolis)

Producer Joe: Wisconsin is playing in the championship because both of the teams above them are ineligible for postseason play.  That should be the snapshot of the B1G Ten this season.  Who cares about this game?  Oh, the winner gets to play in the Rose Bowl!!! Awesome.
Pick: Nebraska (-3)

Denny: Nebraska (-3)

Tim: Wisconsin (+3)

49ers (-7.5) at Rams

Producer Joe:
It's not going to be close.  And I have a feeling Bradford doesn't finish this game.  Just a hunch.  Whether it's the first or the fourth sack from Aldon Smith, one of them is going to knock him out this week.

Pick: 49ers (-7.5)

Denny: 49ers (-7.5)

Tim: Rams (+7.5)

Seahawks at Bears (-4)

Producer Joe: Sketchy number on this one but I am going to defy the go-against theory. Pick: Bears (-4)

Denny: Bears (-4)

Tim: Bears (-4)

Panthers (-3) at Chiefs

Producer Joe:
Pick: Panthers (-3)

Denny: Panthers (-3)

Man, this is a fucked up weekend with two games (the Bears-Seahawks and this one) which---I would think---the public will bet heavily on the Bears and the Panthers. It just rarely works out that these things all cover. It happened about a month ago, and Las Vegas had their worst weekend…ever. That’s how rare it is. Based on that, I would be shocked if both of these “obvious” games cover. But, I just can’t go with the Chiefs.
Pick: Panthers (-3)

Locks of The Week

Producer Joe: Cincinnati (-5) at UConn: Just feels right.
Pick: Cincinnati (-5)

Denny: Bengals (-1.5) at Chargers:
Pick: Bengals (-1.5)

Tim: Kansas at West Virginia (-20): What in the world? Rarely do you get a spread in college so strange. This should wind up being around 60-30.
Pick: West Virginia (-20)

Now it’s your chance to pick the games. Pick the six games we selected and pick a Lock of The Week using the most recent spreads on www.scoresandodds.com. Finally, give the total points in the Rams-49ers for the tiebreaker. Whoever does the best wins a $25 gift certificate to Friendly’s.
