Going into Tuesday’s game the Blues had scored just two goals since the All Star Break.  It took just three minutes and forty-nine seconds to equal that output against Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators.  The Blues would go on to a 3-1  win their first road win since January 10th in Montreal and first win in Ottawa in twelve years.

Just a minute and thirty-seven seconds in, Chris Porter managed to tip a Roman Polak point shot above the glove of Craig Anderson.

Minutes later a seemingly benign Patrik Berglund shot from just inside the blue line caromed to David Perron who was able to sweep the puck around Anderson.  It was Perron’s fifth goal of the season, and was enough to end Anderson’s night just 3:49 into the game.  Following the quick burst of offensive output the Blues took a 2-0 lead into the dressing room at the end of the first; they came out a man short in the second period.

Matt D’Agostini took two hits in the head area in the first period before leaving for good with what the team called an upper body injury.

The Senators took advantage of the short bench by outshooting the Blues 12-5 in the second period and getting the score within one.  Daniel Alfredsson redirected a point shot on the power play from Sergei Gonchar past former Senator Brian Elliott to cut the lead to one.

Perron scored his second goal of the night later in the second period.  After taking a pass from David Backes, Perron chipped a backhander over Alex Auld.  Perron would finish the night on the top line with T.J. Oshie and Backes.

With the win the Blues are now 23-0 when scoring three goals.  Elliott made 28 of 29 saves to seal the win, a rare win where the Blues posted less than twenty shots.

With all precincts reporting, the Blues are now in 4th place in the Western Conference, three points out of first, and tied with the number five Nashville Predators who have played two more games than the Note.  The road trip continues on Thursday in New Jersey.

Not good seeing Dags leave like that. He either has a sep shoulder or concussion. We are too thin up front to lose anyone right now. Im assuming Arnott also sep his shoulder, hope hes back soon but he hasnt skated since it happened. You think your boy gets called back up or will they give one of the career minor league all stars (Hensick & Sterling) a chance? Its crazy how guys like that can just tear it up year after year in the minors but never make it in the NHL.

Why dont you write an article on the progress of prospects in Peoria...some of the guys we thought were going to be really good and were high draft picks are sucking balls down there (Sonne, McRae, Della Rovere)

Nice effort by Porter all year. I always thought he could step right in and play if needed. Hes fast, hits everything, and is skilled enough to score if the opportunity presents itself. Hell, most nights he is more effective than Stewart.

Whats the word on the Parise deal Lorenz?

Well Sonne was a low-risk high reward 3rd round pick that had one big year out of five (among four less than stellar years) in the WHL. Della Rovere came in a trade for D.J. King, and was a 7th round pick by the Washington Capitals. McRae is tied for third in goals on the Rivermen.

I really hope you're joking about the Parise deal...I was.
