Dear Commissioner Dumbass,
Last week, you proposed a two week moratorium on CBA talks. A few days later, you backed off that proposal and then you and the NHLPA met on Wednesday only to break off talks once again.
After the talks, you said:
“I think it’s frustrating for everybody and disappointing for everybody that it’s taken this long and we’re still far apart.”
Then you decided to throw this jab at the NHLPA:
“We’re dealing with a union that really isn’t trying to negotiate, make any deal that we can live with for the long-term health of this game.”
Are you effing kidding me Gary? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Like I said a few weeks ago, do us all a favor and step down. This is the third lockout on your watch and you lost an entire season during one and you are on your way to losing a second. You are goddamn clueless as evidenced by this tweet on Wednesday from ESPN anchor John Buccigross:
“Gary Bettman once was introduced to a player that played over 1000 games in the NHL. That player told me Bettman didn’t know who he was.”
It seriously wouldn’t surprise me if the player was Wayne Gretzky. That’s how ignorant you are. I wouldn’t trust you to run the overnight janitorial crew at Schnuck’s. Some of these Kool-Aid drinking fans can blame the “greedy players” all they want, but the smart fans know otherwise. You and the owners have made a killing since the 2004-’05 lockout. Here’s what Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune in April:
"We're not making money, and that's one reason we need to fix our system. We need to fix how much we're spending right now. [The Wild's] revenues are fine. We're down a little bit in attendance, but we're up in sponsorships, we're up in TV revenue. And so the revenue that we're generating is not the issue as much as our expenses. And [the Wild's] biggest expense by far is player salaries.”
I guess that’s why Leipold ran out like a crazed lunatic looking for a Fondle Me Elmo at Christmas time when he signed Zach Parise and Ryan Suter to identical 13 year, $98 million contracts.
Gary, you run a league chock full of hypocritical owners. I’m tired of watching your smug ass run my favorite sport into the ground. I’m tired of watching your smug ass shake your noggin like a damn bobblehead promotional giveaway. I’m tired of watching your smug ass award the Stanley Cup to the champion each and every year. I’m just plain sick of you Gary. You have proven time and time again through the years that you don’t care about the fans. Give us our sport back. Turn in your resignation and go back to sticking your head up David Stern’s ass. You are the worst. Commissioner. Ever.
