Ryan Braun suspended for doping?

That's as shocking as a traffic jam on Highway 40 at 5pm.

Does this stuff really surprise you anymore? It sure as hell doesn't surprise me.

The powers that be in Major League Baseball levied a 65 game suspension on the “Hebrew Hammer” Monday after Braun decided to strike a deal when he realized he had as much of a leg to stand on as Oscar Pistorius.

Here is a man who is a five time All-Star, the 2007 Rookie of the Year, and the 2011 Most Valuable Player. I'd like to add a piece of hardware to Braun's trophy case and unfortunately for him and the other winner of this award, their massive egos won't like sharing it.

The 2013 Douche bag of the Year Award goes to Braun and Lance Armstrong.

There's a new award for your ESPY show next year ESPN.

I'm not going to get on my moral soapbox like others will in the coming days and weeks and say what Braun did was wrong and how he should be punished from now until kingdom come. I honestly don't care. I read former Cardinal Skip Schumaker's comments where he said he was sickened by Braun and that he should be suspended for life not to mention hand over his MVP award to Schumaker's Dodger teammate Matt Kemp.

Kemp was the 2011 MVP runner up to Braun.

Skip, you might want to rethink your comments there buddy. If that's the way you feel, then why aren't you expressing the same outrage over your hitting coach who admitted using steroids on his way to crushing Roger Maris's home run record in 1998? It makes you look foolish to demand Braun's head on a platter yet pretend that Mark McGwire wasn't a part of the cornucopia of steroid users who have been outed since Jose Canseco released his book “Juiced” in 2005.

With that being said, Braun is a bigger piece of garbage due to the fact that not only did he lie; he threw people under the proverbial bus. No one was a bigger victim than sample collector Dino Laurenzi Jr. When Braun had his comical press conference last year, he made this now famous statement in regards to Laurenzi:

"There were a lot of things that we learned about the collector, about the collection process, about the way that the entire thing worked," Braun said, "that made us very concerned and very suspicious about what could have actually happened."

What a bunch of malarkey.

There are many fans who are fanatics to the point where they are so blinded with hero worship; they will offer to pick up athletes from the airport.

Don't believe me? Check out the St. Louis Blues message boards at Stltoday.com when Vladimir Tarasenko flew over from Russia last summer. There was a faction of loons who were actually discussing the prospect of greeting Tarasenko at Lambert and driving him to the St. Louis Mills for practice.

Cue Rod Serling and the Twilight Zone music.

Then you have the Braun fans. While their hero was dragging Laurenzi's name through the mud, they were sending death threats his way.

That sounds perfectly normal to me. I know when home plate umpire Dan Bellino ejected Cardinals manager Mike Matheny from a game a few weeks ago, the first thing that came to my mind was pulling the Reggie Jackson/Queen Elizabeth on him. I would have picked him off too but that damn Enrico Palazzo deterred me from doing so.

When is our society going to realize that these millionaires could care less about them? They give a duck's crap less about that long winded story you are telling them about playing high school ball with their uncle while they are signing your baseball.

Braun is only the tip of the iceberg. When it is all said and done, there will be more casualties and I won't be surprised if a Cardinal ends up as one of them.

There is too much at stake for these players. They want to wallow in the muck of avarice and they will do whatever it takes to stay there. Sometimes you can't be saved from your own arrogance. Braun demonstrated what happens when you think you are the second coming of Jesus and the rules apply to everyone but yourself.

It's become nothing but a clown show now without the stilts. We need to stop putting these guys on pedestals. They don't deserve to be put on a booster seat.

Hey dude...take this pill and your company will pay you 10x as much over the next 10 years. Whats the catch? You might have to take leave of absence form your job and go live in California for a few months.

Give it to me...
