There's news circulating today that Joe Buck will be returning to the broadcast booth for Cards games on Fox Sports Midwest in 2013 for a limited role that will entail, well, I don't know.

“The idea would be to try some fun stuff within a Cardinals game that hasn’t been tried before,’’ Buck said. “I don’t even know what that entails, but we’d be looking for different access to the on-air product. I think it could be cool. It would kind of loosen the reigns a little, make the broadcasts a little more compelling. It would be in the category of ‘something different’ (but) how that takes shape I don’t know.’’

Wow that's really specific. Cough.

Naturally, this ruffles a segment of feathers in Cardinals Nation.

Here are some real comments from real people reacting to this "news":

Wanda: "Yuk, worst news I could have heard this morning---he is not his father, Jack and most times he seems to be rooting against the Cardinals---so go find some kid fresh out of broadcasting school and give him or her a break and tell Joe Thanks but NO Thanks."

How about Larry Nickel?

M.A.: "It's just a gimmick. Why on Earth do we need more "stuff" poured into a broadcast? Let's just watch the game. I don't care about an in-game interview with Jason Motte. What's Motte going to say, "Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play"? This is just filler. We don't need more filler."
Tim: "This is the same Buck that said he didn't care about baseball? And then I want to listen to him? NO WAY! Send him packing down the road to his overpriced restaurant."

Jim: "I heard Joe Buck said he would love to interview the players while they are in the shower."

Mike: "I'd rather listen to finger nails on a chalkboard than to listen to Joe Buck."
Then there are those commenting on Ricky Horton:

Roger: "I do not know why Ricky Horton is even on the FSM or KMOX broadcasts, he is absolutely horrible. When he is on I won't watch or listen. Put him in studio with Pat Paris and leave him there, it's bad enough we have to have Danny boy, it might be time after this season to really get a good TV play by play person full time. I really hope that KMOX is planning to get someone else to fill in when Shannon or Rooney get time off other than Horton."
Jason: "I can't stand Ricky wish they would replace him all together. Joe would be great but he has the "big national spot light" that he loves to much he needs to get back to his roots! He's nothing like his daddy. As for Al when he talks all I hear is blah blah blah blah"

Goodness.

And then there's the poor sap who gets caught in a crossfire of misinformation.

Thom: "I agree with the others commenting. Jack Buck is a fine broadcaster, but he needs to work for another team. Better yet, give him a network talk show. I sure will mute the audio when he's doing the games."

If Jack Buck was hosting a network talk show, I would definitely tune in.

I think what this really says is that people need their Cardinals baseball ... and their brains have been turned to mush thanks to snow weather update overload.

HOW TO BECOME A POP MEGA STAR IN ONE SIMPLE STEP
Have a ginormous ghetto booty and flaunt it to the world. Next on American Idol ...

Does anyone still watch American Idol? I know for sure who wouldn't watch it if Joe Buck was hosting.

ON A SOMEWHAT SERIOUS NOTE
The SLU Billikens are on top of the Atlantic 10 conference and play #15 Butler tonight.

The Bills are 20-5 overall and 9-2 in conference play; Butler is 22-5 and 9-3, respectively. Game starts at 6:00 PM and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Neither Joe Buck nor Nicki Minaj's booty are expected to take part in the telecast.

The Billikens have three victories against ranked foes this season (New Mexico, Butler, VCU). SLU has never had four wins against a ranked opponent in the same season, which will be on the agenda this evening.

POWER RANKINGS: TOP BUTLERS

5. Duckworth - He kept Scrooge McDuck's manor in tip-top shape on the cartoon Ducktales. Also never told the authorities that Scrooge's accountant Fenton Crackshell was actually Gismo Duck. Truly a trustworthy soul.

4. Wadsworth - Tim Curry's character in the movie Clue is one of the great, underrated roles of the 20th Century.

3. Lurch - The Addams Family butler. Ahhhhh mehhhhhhhhh.

2. Alfred Pennyworth - Bruce Wayne's butler. It's not easy holding down the house that thwarts crime in Gotham City.

1. Geoffrey - "G" would be an awesome butler to have. He kept the home in Bel Air pristine and always had Will or "Master William's" back.

Mr. Belvedere doesn't make this list because Bob Uecker was the only reason that show was remotely entertaining.

Have a good weekend everyone.

geez...lighten up people, its' a handful of times (if any at all) and remember they (broadcasters) aren't on the team so this doesn't affect the score nor would it hurt your personal life..but you're all very smart people and know this so I dismiss myself, not that it matters.. nonetheless God Bless and have an awesome day!
