How does one resize their avatar? My old one was 90x90. The rules on here say they have to 160x160 and when I try to upload it, the message says it's invalid or some shit like that.

What I tried to use was a BMP. Once I changed mine to a GIF, it worked fine..

You have to resize it on your computer and then upload it.

Use MSPaint
I changed it to 160x160 but the size shot up to 75kb and the thing says this is not a valid image file. How do I get in under 30k.

use stretch/skew instead of actually entering in the pixels you want it at

I changed the size in photoshop, and then saved the copy with a small-to-medium file size. I know for those who do not have photoshop this won't help you, but that's not my problem is it?
try scaling it down...if that's possible in MSPaint.
