Carp is good. It's amazing to see the difference in W-L record when he is healthy as opposed to when he isn't.

Carp doesn't give a fuck about this or the Cy Young. He pisses on incentives and bonus money.

I bet his response was along the lines of..."huh? I'm starting a playoff game on Wednesday."

Yep, and then he probably punched the person that told him about it.

Is this even a real postseason award? Or is this one a corporation created, because aren't the real ones given after the postseason?

I bet he would care about winning the Cy Young. Or maybe he just doesn't want more money.

Did you ask him?
Hell no, why would he want to piss Carp off before his playoff start?

Do you care?
Who won it in 1992?

Ha, I'm randomly picked the first year they had it.
Matt Morris won it in 2001. Whop-de-fucking-doo.

Carp unseated Fernando Tatis from this prestigious award.

Carp is the 2nd guy to win it twice!!!
Of course after they awarded it in 1992, they didn't award it again until 1997.
Carp unseated Fernando Tatis from this prestigious award.
How could they not give it to Carp then? He now has only one less grand slam in an inning than Tatis.

I don't know, if you had a vote back in 1879 who would have you voted for?

Baseball Reference doesn't even list this award anywhere I can find it.

You think Baseball Reference gives a shit if it is given credit for listing this award? Baseball Reference is all about the team.

Do you think there is an incentive for "comeback player of the year" in his contract?
Considering the player would have to suck or get hurt, I doubt it's in either party's interest to write that incentive into a long term contract.
I'm sure Carp would prefer that he never was in contention for this award, or even worse, win it twice in 6 seasons.

He could have asked for that incentive when negotiating a contract he signed FOLLOWING a year that he sucked or was injured in.

He signed this contract after 2006, through 2011, with a club option for 2012. So what do you think?

Wasn't speaking specifically to Carp, as you weren't when you said "the player would have to..." Just showing an example of where such a clause would not mean a player was banking on someday sucking or being injured.

The only way it would happen is if it was a one year incentive contract after an injury. No way in hell that gets into a long term contract, which I specifically said in my post, since the question was asked about Carp.
man you guys have really shat all over this thread haven't ya?

I understand. Whenever I am speaking of a specific player, I call that player "the player." rather than refer to him by name. And, it could get into a long-term contract if it was signed immediately following a suck or injury year.

It was in response to a post about Carp asshole.
But if you'd sign a guy to a 5 year contract immediately after his arm was blowed up or he hit .209 go ahead and create whatever fantasy you want.

Bmac is right, but you do have a point here.
