This is just a general question, but what should the standard raise be if you have pocket 10's, JJ's, QQ's, KK's, or AA's pre flop? I've heard 3 times the big blinds is the standard raise, but what about when the blinds are smaller? If the big blind is only 30, usually raising it to 90 doesn't push many people out. Just looking for some guidance here from anyone.

Very dependent upon table dynamics/table standards. I'm also assuming you're talking about a tournament? In the early stages of a tournament, just raise to 4xBB from early position if you fee like you're not protecting your hand enough. With limpers in the pot before you, I'd add one BB to your standard raise per limper (i.e. if your standard is 4xBB at 30, with 2 limpers in front of you, raise to 180).

Again, all of this is very dependent upon the table you're at. If there's a guy who's calling 10xBB raises in the BB and you have AA on the button, then raise that much and try to play as big a pot as possible.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I was in the ballpark as far as betting the right amount. Thanks again.
