Gotta be the 1995 Cardinals...who would have thought a team could finish in 4th place with Tripp Cromer getting 340 AB's.

Yea, they had what, a really shitty 5 days in October.
They were also picked 2nd or 3rd in all of the preseason polls for the NL Central.

I was kind of thinking more like teams that pissed you off all season long, not just had a bad playoff series.

The '85 Cards losing to fuking KC in the Series.
Or maybe the '96 Cards up 3-1 vs. Atl in the NLCS and losing 3 straight.
Take your pick.

Fine, let's try this again, not talking about teams that dominated all season long and then shit the bed in the postseason. These are the teams we expected in the playoffs and just shit themselves all through the regular season and missed the playoffs.
Lots of very good teams have had a bad finish to the postseason.

The 1984 Football Cardinals also come to mind, but I don't recall them being postseason favorites at the beginning of the season.

95 or 06 rams both started 5-1 I believe and tanked hardcore after that.
this years blues for sure have massively under-achieved.

I'm the only one playing this game correctly...I'd also like to nominate the 1981 Cardinals not because they were terrible but because they had the best overall record in their division in the strike interrupted season but didn't win either of the "split season" bullshit and sat out the playoffs.
I know that's goes against what you're looking for in this thread but I was very disappointed.

What was not frustrating about these teams? The thread title says nothing about the beginning of the season.

Good pick. But kinda hard to blame the team for that mess. They could have tied or won in either half if they played the same number of games. There was a vote for how to determine the playoff teams and the only ones that voted against it were the Cardinals, the Phillies - who won a half, and another team.
Was there high expectations coming into that season? ...I was 4 years old.

Because they weren't fucking poll options.
And what was wrong with the 1985 team? They got a royal fucking screwing.

What about the DFL Blues the year before we got Johnson in the draft. The building was empty the majority of the year and it was the first year back for hockey. Every other team in the league seemed to have faster paced exciting hockey going on and we had a team that was gutted for no reason by cheapskate owners who were pouting because the NBA did not IMMEDIATELY let them move the Grizzlies to St. Louis.

So where are all these teams in your poll?
How many of them where supposed to be playoff teams and didn't make it because they repeatedly shit themselves game after game?
Even 1981, sure they got screwed too, but were people picking them in the preseason?

Ha to the motherfuckin Ha. Hockey sucks.
I'm not sure I assumed the Blues would make the playoffs this year. Not exactly a wide array of all stars and olympians on this team. Saying they underachieved is debatable.

I'd respond to the poll and answer the question, but SKB would only tell me why I'm wrong and how I didn't get his intent. No thanks. Why do any of you people bother?

The Blues have been very fucking frustrating, at the same time, it could be a lot worse. The team is 6 games above 500 and still in the playoff hunt, which is far from being put on suicide watch.
The pain rivals the death of my son.

So, I'm going with the 2009 Rams, or the 2007 Redskins.

2009 Cubs are right there with the Blues. Fuck, 2009-10 Illinois basketball team and the 2009 Illinois football team were all supposed to be pretty good.
Been a great year for me with sports.
