...Seem so much smaller than the others? Thinner glass, black magic, or is it a SCAM?

they're bought from the same plant as all the other stills down there buy there's from.
True story:
About 7 years ago, a co-worker was given a bottle of Maker's Mark for Christmas. The red wax was spotted in the parking lot that very same night. 4 hours later, and 2 hours after the bottle was gone (he claims), he was pulled over on Hi-way 44 in front of Ft Leonard Wood going 28mph. Everytime I see a bottle of this it makes me chuckle.
Cool story bro

I've had many a dance with Maker's. I remember one instance where 3 of us killed an almost full bottle at the bar my friend worked at. The next day, I pulled a to-go menu from that bar out of my pocket. I called my brother to ask where I would have got that, then he told me we went to that bar and did what I said earlier. I had no recollection of being at that bar at all. It had completely blacked out a huge swath of my night.

I think it's the same size..in terms of ounces...as others. The bottle has a different shape than other bourbons/whiskeys...maybe that's a way to distinguish it from the others.
