Will Ferrell will be making his way to Scranton, just in time for Steve Carell's farewell.
Ferrell will appear in a multi-episode arc on NBC's veteran workplace comedy The Office this season as an inappropriate branch manager who arrives from the home office.
Ferrell's guest stint would mark a reunion with Carell as the two starred in Anchorman.
Carell announced last year that he would be exiting the series, and it was recently reported that he would be leaving before the season finale, most likely at some point in April.
Ferrell was a regular cast member on the network's Saturday Night Live. He also produces Eastbound and Down on HBO.

Watched the episode from last week at lunch today. Ugh, why bother. They really mailed that one in.
Yup. We just watched that one last night and it completely sucked. Total waste of an episode.
Are you talking about Threat Level: Midnight? I thought it was great!

Hmmm. I thought it sucked. I guess because maybe I know Michael wont be on there much longer and I really enjoy the Michael/Holly story arc. It seemed like a filler episode, now, at this point.....maybe I would've enjoyed it a season or two ago. I don't know.

I think, in anticipation of Michael leaving they're doing episodes like this where they bring back characters from the past, rather than doing some dumb flashback clips episode. I think it's clever.

I agree about watching it for the comedy, but I just didn't find it all that funny. Definitely not the worst one I've seen this season, but still only got a few laughs out of me.

Agreed. If they wanted to do a "movie" episode, they should have taken a page from It's Always Sunny with Lethal Weapon 5.

That hurt.
If I told you that Holly reminds me of a girlfriend I just couldn't have and I'm vicariously living through Michael would you understand? {sob} probably not...I've said too much...too {sob}..much

I agree. And the Sunny Lethal Weapon episode was almost exactly the same as what The Office did, they just did it better.

I don't think Michael Scott is the reason that show's funny. In fact, sometimes his storylines are tediously awkward and silly. If they get someone good to replace him they'll be fine.

Once again, you've nailed it on the head. It's not as bad as Big Love. I'm just waiting for that shit to end. Feel obligated to ride it out but it sucks now.

Big Love or the Office? The Office has been just consistently mediocre. Big Love is just hard to watch anymore. The story lines are stupid.

The Office. The PDA episode, the week before, showed that they were sandbagging.

Eh, when I watch the old episodes when the characters were still being developed there were some seriously funny, awkward moments. Now, it almost seems formulaic at times. I guess most shows go that way after a while. Instead of people leaving the show, they added so many that it's almost a different show from when it started. It's just watered down in my opinion.

Big Love has turned into a soap opera. Much like Weeds, I watched it when the show was good (in Weeds case 1 season) so now I'm just waiting for it to end. Seriously, does the dude ever sleep? Who can really deal with being a US Senator, owning your own chain of stores, 3 wives, death threats, etc....

It has to be so hard to live up to hype and potential every week year after year for a popular show. I could imagine most writers enjoy doing a show for like 3-4 years and then it has to be hell.

So, are they just fucking around with the whole Will Ferrell thing? Is he just guest starring for an episode or two? Or is he the permanent replacement?

I liked Big Love through the end, but suspension of disbelief helped that out. Once you watch it more like you would watch a roadrunner cartoon its more enjoyable. As far as the Office, overall the show has been going downhill for years now. It's seemed to me that the writing has been attempting to reach out to a broader demographic, mainly being female, turning into a half ass chick show. and everyone knows that chick sitcoms suck.
