Just curious what everyone here prefers. I personally am torn between the two. I use a blade, which is great for feel on distance. I have tried mallets and noticed that they are money for short puts, but makes distance control a bit more difficult.

I prefer the mallet. The weight helps with a more consistent stroke.

putting, more than any other part of the game, is mental and personal preference. i use a blade for one reason because i just like the way it looks when i look down. i think a mallet putter also is better for someone who putts with a square to square stroke, where the putterface is always square to the target, while a blade makes it a little easier to putt with a "swinging gate" stroke where the putterface opens up a bit on the backswing and closes on the follow-through.

Agree with this.

Mallets can help greatly with alignment, which many bad golfers struggle with.

This is the reason I bought a blade in the first place.

I use the old ping anser 2... Feel really good about distance control.... Tried out a 2 ball practicing, but didn't like distance control at all. Can't feel the ball off the face with the insert.
