View Full Version : what would you have done
first post, just wanted some outside opinions
playing 1/2 NL at harrahs this past weekend.
my chip stack is just under $200 give or take a few. my image is very solid and have won 4of5 showdowns had been sitting for about two hours. Here's the hand.
under the gun raises to 6, fairly tight player. folds to me in the CO with AsKd i reraise to 21. all fold BB calls, original raiser folds. BB has a very tight image and hasnt played many hands but was very aggressive when he had played and his stack is very close to mine
Flop comes 2sAh5c.
bb leads outs for 40, i think for a bit and eventually raise to 100. after some deliberation he pushes all in for 200 virtually putting me all in. I tell you what happens after this but i would like your opinion on whether its an easy call or fold and what you think i can put him on. realize you prolly need some more info but go with what you got. thanks
Knowing the poker rooms I have played in he has an Ace and probably a shitty kicker, but he caught the 2 pair with a 5. Knowing my luck though he probably had 3/4 in his hand.
It seems that in this position that you have to call him though. (But I suck at poker)

I am interested to find out what he had, but if he was playing as tight as you mentioned, I would put him on A5 or A2 suited. His bet of the pot size after the flop would make sense. with your raise to 100, he probably puts you on an A with a big kicker, if i were in his shoes and had two pair, I would probably go all in as well.

Based on the fact that you're telling the story...
...I deduce you lost the hand.
Therefore, I put him on AA.
i didnt think he had aces because of the smooth call preflop and then the lead out post flop. Part of the problem was i felt like i was kind of playing with house money since i had won a tournament for $850 ealier in the day and felt compelled to gamble with the call and hope for the best(terrible thought process i know). Upon calling the all in bet, the villain goes "sorry i donked out on you" immediately and turned over his 3s4s. Completely went against his image and hit the dream flop he was looking for.

My 1st thought was actually him trying to use his image aginst you, but knowing the 1-2 game as well as I do there, I know that very few, if any, are capable of making that play of setting up a loose or tight image to their benefit...you're def more likely to see that in the 2-5 game.
I'd chalk the loss up to "Whaddya do?"...more often than not, he'll flop a total airball, and you'll collect an easy $21- you'll recoup that loss over the haul.

Thats a healthy sized call with 3/4 out of position.
Tough luck.
