I am just back from the Dominican, and I thought I would let you all now that it is an excellent golf destination for a vacation. They have, what I consider to be a top 30 course in the world!! Apple Vacations flies direct from St Louis to Punta Cana in about 3:45. I am by no means incredibly wealthy, but we went for our honeymoon, and the "Boss" let me play - twice.
Anyway the place I am raving about is called Punta Espada/ Cap Cana. The Seniors started playing it this year, and I am interested to watch it on TV in the future, after having played it. It has about ten holes directly on the Ocean. The kind of stuff where if you walk 6 paces off the green you will fall fifty feet into gorgeous clear water. I know my top 30 comment above is bold, but I just can't imagine anywhere being more awesome than this. I mean it was Rediculous. As a point of reference I haven't played that many great courses BUT I have played: Everything good in St Louis (Except for Boone) Dalhousie, Branson Creek, TPC Sawgrass... And I just can't imagine other places being much better than this.
They are going private in a about a year I heard, so if you can get down there soon --do it!

There are also Pete Dye, PB Dye, Nick Price, Nick Faldo courses right there. It really is a hell of a golf destination if you can afford it.
