beat the first guy easy...

lost to the 2nd person..they litterally beat me on nearly every hand...this is a game that will take a long time to get decent at

At $4,650 at 1st break. Started w/ $4,500. Lots of fishy players at my table. Positives and negatives to that. Blinds up to 75/150 next.

Just tripled up. KO'd Josh Arieh. Up to around $13k. Blinds at 100/200/25.

And just like that I think Tim is gone.

Shockingly bad play. Probably the first time I've been knocked out of an event, and I'm legitimately pissed at how bad the play was that KO'd me. But, since I had backing, I didn't pay the buy-in, so it's not like I lost $1,500 b/c of it.

With blinds at 150/300/25, I had KK in early position. I raised to 875.

An aggressive British player reraised it to $2,500. For some history on him, he was at my previous table...and made a bizarre play. The under the gun player raised. This Brit called. I had JJ. I didn't know what the under the gun (utg) player had, so I just called. I only had about $4,000 left at that time. Also, poker pro Josh Arieh was two to my left, and I could see him shoving his $3,000 shortstack.

Sure enough...he did. Now, if the utg shoves, I go away. But, he folded, so I knew I was moving in at that point. But, the Brit decides to call. Odd. Doesn't matter. I shove. It's only 700 more for the Brit after calling Arieh, so he calls me.

Arieh had 6c7c. The Brit had 7d8d. I had JcJs. My Jacks held up, and I moved up to $13,000. The question is...what the fuck was that guy calling with 78 for anyway...especially with a player behind him.

Anyway, they break up our table. And, he's at my new table. Barry Greenstein had just gotten KO'd from this table.

Back to the hand...

I raise with KK. Brit repops to 2500. Shortstack in the small blind shoves 2500 or 3000. I immediately shove my KK all-in. If the Brit has AA, then so be it. But, I don't want him calling me with AK...so I move in. And, if he wants to call me with QQ...good for him...better for me.

He tanks. Asks for a chip count. Stares me down.

There's about $15,000 in there.

He's got to call $9,300.

He's getting 5:3 on his money. And, since he's not instacalling, I know I have the best hand.

I can't believe he's taking this long.

He has about $22,000 left.

And...he says, "Well, if you have Aces or Kings, I'm in trouble."

He turns over AhKh.

Wow.

Terrible play to call $9,300 to win $15,000 with AK. I mean...there's no way I have AQ there. And, even if I had TT...which would be moronic...he's still an underdog.

But, of course, the Ace comes in the door...and that does it for me.

Couldn't have played better. Knocked out a well known pro. Got my money in as a monster favorite...and would've had a top 50 chipstack as we were getting closer to the money.

So it goes...

Still have five days in Las Vegas to fuck off.

Off to get shitfaced and curse the Brits.

Yeah. With $25,000, I would've been well above average chipstack and in position to do some damage. My table was weak.

So it goes.

Get it in good. That's all you can do.

Wow. Just went and checked on that.

Considering I spent the last few hours playing in a tournament and have had a good January, it'd be brutal if now I couldn't withdraw.

I haven't made a deposit in a few months, and I hadn't heard anything about this.

I texted Dennis Phillips to see if he knows anything.

We're supposed to have Todd Akin on the show this week. Not sure if he's coming on tomorrow or not. He was a sponsor of the UIGEA in 2006.

All Access Visa gift cards still work. Make sure it is an ALL ACCESS Visa and not just a regular Visa. Only certain gas stations/places sell the all access. Google All Access Visa and find the nearest location to you. Hope this helps.

I just withdrew a couple hundred just to see what happens. It went through. We'll see when I get my check.

Dan Nassif (FT at 2006 WSOP Main Event) has been texting with me about it over the last half-hour. He says he researched it, and seven other states have had this happen as well.

On the other hand, he said you can still use eChecks on Full Tilt. I'm not a big fan of FTP though.

As much as I hate Barney Frank from toying with HUD to the Dodd/Frank bill, his work with trying to get this legalized is exemplary. I do not understand how, especially given the current federal budget situation, our elected officials can not get their heads around other forms of revenue generation?

Tim, I think that would be great if you got Akin on to discuss it, although I doubt you pull much info out of him. Didnt you have Mckaskill on a while back and got into online poker discussion? I forgot what she had to say though.

Since you and Pjoe get such high profile guests, you may want to get the speaker of the missouri house, Steven Tilley, on to discuss the reasons why this blockage is occuring now.

He is a young guy, not of the religious right, so I would be interested in hearing what he has to say on the subject.

Exactly.

But, the difference between poker and the vast majority of other activities considered gaming (craps, blackjack, slots, sports betting) is that it's a game of skill.

I don't fault those on the outside looking in (ie, politicians who have no clue about the game) considering poker to be just like the other games of chance.

It's in poker's best interest (ie, The Poker Players' Alliance which has made strides over the last two years as a lobby...but obviously not enough) to separate itself from gambling interests that include those games of chance.

McCaskill was definitely not for online gaming. She busted out the "you have to worry about kids getting into it" and "gambling addiction" lines.

Really dodged the question...and didn't know much about the issue.

I can't blame her, as online poker isn't exactly the highest of priorities...although it did get attention when Sen. Reid tried to get it regulated a few weeks ago.

Either way, it's disappointing, and I fear in the short-term it'll get worse...but in 10 or 15 years, it'll be comical to the mainstream to think that online poker was at one time the legal clusterfuck it is right now.

Hey Tim,

Went on a few forums and got some more info. Apparently Stars had problems with one of their E check processors so they shut it down. It happened about 2-3 days ago.
That processor just so happened to deal with people in Missouri, Maryland, NY, Arizona, Florida, Indiana and Kentucky, could be a few others too not sure.

hopefully it gets straightened out in a week or so.
