Default Any advice how to not loose this hand

Tell me if there is anyway to not bust out on this hand.

500 player tourney with $30 Buyin. 45 minutes in and you have increased your stack by almost 50% playing tight and winning 2 decent pots.

You are on the button with unsuited 9, 10 and 5 players limp in front of you. You check and the flop comes out rainbow q,j,8.

I slowplay and everyone checks to the button who raises all in. I have the nuts. There is no way to lay this hand down, right???

I figure he has qq, jj or 88. I call and the douche had q8 and hit the q on the river for his boat.... Does anyone ever fold the nuts early in a tourney just to play for tomorrow? I have folded AA, the low end of a straight, a weak flush etc but folding this hand seemed impossible.

What do others think? I am thinking this is a loosing hand no matter how you analyze it. If I raise before the flop I fold to any re-raise so I would rather see a free flop. He most likely calls any raise I make is my guess.

Another frustrating finish!

I am fairly new to the game so I could have this all wrong. To me, the question is how comfortable are you in going in with that hand and do you think it can be beat. If there is a possibility of it being beat, then you may want to lay it down and just continue trying to cash in on the tournament.

All that being said, I probably would have played the hand and took my chances. You had the guy beat till the river so its not like you went in with a terrible hand.

IMHO, absofreakinglutely no way you fold that hand!!!!!! Fist-pump-happy-dance call his AI until the cows come home. I mean, would you ever fold AA pre-flop to an AI raise the first hand of a tourney? Nope. Never. Not pre-flop. No way. Don't fold here. Don't even think about folding here (other than to double-check that you did, indeed, flop the nuts).

You are an 82% favorite to win vs. any two pair hand (about the same if you had AA vs. villain's KK AI PF), and against a set you are a 65% favorite. I know I'm not good enough to pass up a 65% edge and neither are you. You should be playing the tourney to win, not to cash. If you fold this (or really, even think about folding this), you are playing to cash, not to win.

So rest easy knowing you made the right decision - and making the right decisions will make you a winner in the long-run.
